Amiran Tomaradze
Research Associate Professor
PhD, Institute for High Energy Physics, Protvino, Russia, 1988
Outstanding Researcher: a title awarded by the United States Government to individuals with outstanding research achievements and international recognition, 2000.
Amiran Tomaradze's research focuses on several areas of experimental particle and nuclear physics. His past research was conducted at IHEP (Protvino, Russia), at CERN (Geneva, Switzerland), at Brookhaven National Laboratory (Upton, New York), and at Fermilab (Chicago, Illinois). He presently conducts much of his research at Cornell (Ithaca, New York, USA), at GSI (Darmstadt, Germany), and at JLab (Virginia, USA).
Prof. Tomaradze's notable research contributions are in hadron spectroscopy, W and Z physics, charmonium and bottomonium physics, searches of QCD exotics. These have included the discovery of the high order Bose-Einstein Correlations(at CERN), pioneering experimental results on properties of the W particles (at CERN), precision measurements of masses and widths of the resonances (at Fermilab and at Cornell), discovery of the hc, etac-prime and etab particles (at Cornell), proposals of multiple new resonance spectroscopy projects to be performed at the PANDA and GlueX facilities (at GSI and at JLab).
